This is one of my personal favorite, the song "Build Me Up, Buttercup" which was written and popularized in 1968 by "The Foundations". The group was made up of west Indians, white British, and a Sri Lankan national. They also made a notable mark in the music scene in their song "Baby now that I found you" as their debut single in 1967 that reached number one in the UK and Canada.
